Sarah Abel MSc MRICS

Chartered Surveyor, Registered Valuer and Partner at Lawrence & Wightman

Sarah has been undertaking valuations in the Midlands area since 2003 and is an expert in technical valuations, , and technical statutory enfranchisement valuations. Qualifying as a member of the RICS in 2006, Sarah left the practice to work in the valuation department of two corporate real estate companies, DTZ and JLL, before returning to Lawrence & Wightman as a partner in 2012. She has presented valuations and expert testimony to Leasehold Valuation Tribunals—which became the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber)—, given advice in relation to, divorce settlements, and court proceedings about negligence claims. A married mother of two, Sarah lives in the Marston Green area of Birmingham, and can be found knitting, catching a movie, or attempting to entertain two children.


Keith Chew FRICS

Chartered Surveyor, Registered Valuer and Partner at Lawrence & Wightman

Highly regarded as an expert negotiator, Keith works hard to provide the best possible cost savings for his clients and has worked as a general practice surveyor in and around Birmingham and the Black Country for over 35 years. Having joined the practice as a trainee in 1982 and qualified as a professional associate of the RICS in 1985, Keith was elected Fellow in 1993. Most of Keith’s work relates to leasehold enfranchisement, dealing with the acquisition of freehold interests in houses with varying remaining lease terms, and acting for leaseholders wanting to extend the leases on their flats or maisonettes. Keith has appeared before the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal/First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber) on many occasions and also undertakes valuation work for pension funds and individuals. Married with two grown-up children, you can often find Keith on the golfing greens of Sutton Coldfield.


Michael Cannon FRICS

Chartered Surveyor, Registered Valuer and Partner of Lawrence & Wightman

Qualifying as a chartered surveyor in 1981, Michael became a Fellow of the RICS in May 1995 and has spent his working life covering both commercial and residential property across the Midlands and surrounding counties. With a superb background primarily in valuation, Michael became a partner of James & Lister Lea in 1990, a partner of Bruton Knowles in 2001, before joining Lawrence & Wightman as a partner in April 2007. Michael specialises in leasehold reform work dealing with many cases under the Leasehold Reform Act 1967 and the Leasehold Reform Housing and Urban Development Act 1993—including acting as an Expert Witness before the Midlands and Eastern Area Panels of the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber). Michael is married with two grown-up daughters and practices his golf swing both locally and in his favourite getaway, Aberdovey.
